In a show of appreciation for their unwavering dedication, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, lauded the troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) for their sacrificial service to the nation.
General Lagbaja’s commendation came during his operational visit to the 23 Brigade, Nigerian Army, at the Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola, Adamawa State, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Emphasizing the importance of firsthand insight into troop welfare and operational readiness, General Lagbaja expressed his commitment to addressing identified challenges promptly.
He highlighted the transformative efforts within the NA, supported by the Federal Government’s provision of essential combat resources and welfare schemes, including clearing the backlog of Group Life Assurance claims dating back to 2012.
During his visit to Adamawa, the COAS also extended gratitude to the State Governor, Right Honourable Ahmadu Umar Fintiri, for the government and people’s continuous support towards maintaining peace and tranquility.
Governor Fintiri reciprocated the appreciation, noting the significant reduction in crime within the state and praising the commendable interagency cooperation among security agencies.
The Governor assured continued support for the NA and other security agencies in their operations within Adamawa State, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts in ensuring peace and security.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to addressing challenges and enhancing operational effectiveness, marking a collaborative stride towards national security.
