COAS Commends 402 SF Brigade, Orders Sustained Offensive Against Terrorists


The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has applauded the efforts of troops from the 402 Special Forces (SF) Brigade for their exemplary performance in securing the Kaduna-Abuja road and rail corridor.

According to a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in Abuja, the commendation was delivered during his operational visit to the Brigade’s headquarters in Kaduna on Monday, January 20, 2025.

During his visit, the COAS, who was welcomed with a ceremonial Quarter Guard, received a comprehensive briefing on the Brigade’s operational activities and challenges. 

Addressing the officers and soldiers, he urged them to intensify their offensive against terrorists, insurgents, and other criminal elements within their jurisdiction.

Lieutenant General Oluyede acknowledged the challenges faced by the troops and pledged swift action to address them.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the welfare of Nigerian Army personnel, emphasizing the importance of providing adequate support and accommodation for all soldiers.

The Army Chief encouraged the Brigade’s officers to lead by example, demonstrating courage and resilience in tackling security threats.

He praised the Brigade for its operational successes, noting that its exceptional performance has made its services indispensable across various units and formations of the Nigerian Army.

The visit underscores the COAS’s dedication to boosting troop morale and ensuring their readiness to address Nigeria’s security challenges effectively.

The COAS was accompanied on the visit by the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, several Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters, and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division.
