The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges in Yobe State.
The assurance was made on Sunday, January 26, 2025, during his visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu as part of an operational tour of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI.
During the visit, General Oluyede pledged to provide the necessary support to troops stationed in the state to enable them to effectively carry out their duties. He also commended the government and people of Yobe State for their continued support to the Nigerian Army.
In his response, Governor Buni expressed gratitude to the COAS for the visit and emphasized the need for intensified efforts to decisively address the security situation in the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the troops and offered prayers for the repose of the souls of fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives for peace in the region. 
Earlier, the COAS addressed troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, commending their resilience and dedication despite numerous challenges.
He urged them to maintain their determination until all adversaries are subdued, assuring them of enhanced welfare, improved accommodation, and adequate combat enablers to bolster their operational effectiveness.
At the Theatre Command headquarters, General Oluyede received updates on ongoing operations. He praised the officers and soldiers for their efforts and encouraged them to sustain their momentum.
The Army Chief reiterated his commitment to providing the necessary resources to ensure their professional performance.
The visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s resolve to restore peace and stability in Yobe State and the entire Northeast region.
