The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has expressed deep sympathy and condolences to the government and people of Borno State following the devastating flood that has ravaged several communities in the state.
The flood, which resulted from the overflow of the Alo Dam, has claimed lives, destroyed property, and displaced thousands, causing severe disruption to economic activities.
In a press release issued on September 10, 2024, General Musa conveyed his sorrow over the tragedy. On behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), he extended heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones and expressed solidarity with the people of Borno State during this challenging time.
General Musa also assured the public that the Armed Forces of Nigeria would collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant authorities to provide immediate relief and support to the affected communities.
He has directed the Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai to assist victims and ensure the safe evacuation of affected residents. The Armed Forces will also contribute to ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the flood-hit areas.
The CDS reaffirmed his commitment to supporting both the Federal and Borno State governments in their efforts to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by the disaster.
He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, while calling on Almighty God to ease the pain of all victims.
