Chadian Government Honours MNJTF Force Commander with Prestigious National Award


The Chadian Government has bestowed one of its highest national honors, the “Officer of the National Order of Chad,” on Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, Force Commander (FC) of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

The award recognizes his exceptional contributions to peace and security in the Lake Chad region.

The prestigious honor was presented by the Honorable Minister of the Armed Forces, Veterans, and War Victims, Issaka Malloua Djamouss, on behalf of the President of Chad, Field Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Minister lauded General Ali’s exemplary leadership, particularly during Operation Lake Sanity 2.

The operation, described as a major success, facilitated the repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons, dismantled terrorist logistics bases, and significantly disrupted the operations of terrorist groups in the region.

“This award is reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the stability of our region,” the Minister emphasized.

In his acceptance speech, Major General Ali expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chadian leadership for the recognition. He dedicated the award to the troops of the MNJTF, commending their courage and resilience during Operation Lake Sanity 2.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Head of Mission MNJTF and Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), Ambassador Mamman Nuhu; Chief of Staff to the President of Chad, Lieutenant General Ramadan Erdibou; and Commander of Sector 2 MNJTF, Lieutenant General Djouma Youssouf Mahamat Itno.

Other attendees included senior military officials from Chad and key personnel from the Ministry of Defense.

This recognition underscores the ongoing collaborative efforts to restore peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin, highlighting the MNJTF’s pivotal role in counter-terrorism operations across the region.
