In a bid to strengthen collaboration and enhance national security efforts, Chief of Defence Staff CDS, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo at the Interior Ministry Headquarters in Abuja.
During the visit, General Musa commended the Minister for implementing significant improvements to the passport acquisition process in Nigeria, hailing it as a noteworthy achievement.
He emphasized the visible changes brought about by the Minister’s initiatives and lauded him as “a true Nigerian who has the country’s best interests at heart.”
General Musa also proposed a collaborative effort between the National Population Commission and the Ministry of Interior to accurately determine Nigeria’s population for effective monitoring.
In response, Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised General Musa’s leadership style, stating that it has been instrumental in the military’s successes.
He urged for lasting solutions to Nigeria’s porous borders and advocated for closer collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Services and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo revealed that a significant portion of bomb-making materials enter the country disguised as fire service equipment, underscoring the urgency for border security measures.
Highlighting the importance of community support in securing the nation, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the need for collaboration between the Border Community Development Agency, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, and the Ministry of Interior.
He commended the dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces, describing them as the most committed in the world, and called for further collaboration in training special forces, acknowledging the strain on the AFN.
The Ministry of Defence has urged the public to be aware of these developments, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in ensuring national security.
