In a bid to fortify national security measures, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, embarked on a strategic outreach to pivotal government bodies.
He initiated a series of high-level discussions with the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Barrister Nyesom Wike.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Musa lauded Ambassador Tuggar’s adeptness in steering the nation’s foreign policy.
Assuring the minister of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) unwavering commitment, General Musa pledged collaboration to fulfill the ministry’s mandates effectively.
Responding, Ambassador Tuggar extended condolences to the AFN for the recent Delta killings, emphasizing the imperative of a robust military presence to stabilize not only Nigeria but the entire sub-region.
Transitioning to the FCT Minister’s office, General Musa commended Barrister Wike’s transformative leadership, noting tangible improvements under his tenure.
Recognizing the FCT as a nexus of diverse interests, the CDS promised augmented security measures within Abuja, including the establishment of a Rapid Response Team combining ground troops and air support helicopters to bolster law enforcement efforts.
Expressing gratitude, Barrister Nyesom Wike echoed condolences for the fallen soldiers in Delta State, denouncing the barbarity of the attacks.
He pledged comprehensive support for affected families and unveiled plans for a joint security initiative, the FCT Rapid Response Center, integrating military and civilian agencies to tackle emerging threats in the nation’s capital.
The CDS, accompanied by the Minister of FCT, affirmed plans for the AFN to receive enhanced support in drones, vehicles, and logistical assistance, underlining a shared commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
As Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Acting Director Defence Information, underscored the significance of disseminating these developments, the nation anticipates a strengthened security apparatus and collaborative efforts to confront evolving challenges, ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
