The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has extended warm felicitations to officers, soldiers, ratings, airmen, and civilian staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) as Muslims across the country join the global community to mark Eid el-Maulud.

In a goodwill message on Friday, General Musa described the occasion, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as a solemn moment to reflect on compassion, service, humility, and peaceful coexistence.

He urged members of the Armed Forces to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s exemplary life and teachings by fostering unity, loyalty, and optimism in the discharge of their duties.

“As the Prophet brought hope and good tidings to the world, so must we be promoters of peaceful coexistence and optimism—strengthening the bonds within our ranks and across our nation as we continue to serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication,” Musa stated.

The Defence Chief assured Nigerians of the Armed Forces’ unwavering resolve to safeguard lives, uphold the rule of law, and preserve national unity. He further reiterated the military’s determination to support peace and security efforts across the country in line with democratic values.

“Together, and guided by the principles exemplified by the Prophet, we will remain resolute in our duty to protect lives and support the collective prosperity of our nation,” he added.

The message was conveyed in a statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defence Information, on September 5, 2025.
