CDS Mourns Buhari, Describes Him as a Symbol of Discipline and Patriotism

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, OFR, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing him as an exemplary leader whose legacy of discipline, integrity, and national service will remain etched in the annals of Nigeria’s history.

In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Service Chiefs and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), General Musa extended heartfelt sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Buhari family, and the nation at large.

General Musa hailed the late President as a revered elder statesman, patriot, and gallant officer, whose life embodied a rare blend of military discipline and democratic leadership. “President Buhari was a symbol of dedication to national service. He fought tirelessly for the unity and indivisibility of our great country. His leadership, courage, and principles will continue to inspire generations of citizens,” the CDS stated.

He noted that Buhari’s legacy in the defence sector and governance is one of enduring impact, citing his zero tolerance for corruption and indiscipline. “The late President has written his name in gold as an incorruptible leader and a vanguard of prudency,” General Musa said.

The CDS also emphasized President Buhari’s firm adherence to the rule of law, discipline, and devotion to national unity, calling these values the cornerstone of both his military and civilian leadership.

While praying for the peaceful repose of the former President’s soul, General Musa asked Almighty Allah to grant the bereaved family and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the monumental loss.

The statement was signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information.
