The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, visited Katsina State on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, to assess the operational readiness of security forces in the state.
The visit, carried out on the directive of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, aimed to evaluate security efforts and address ongoing challenges in the region.
During his visit, General Musa met with the Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda. In their meeting, the CDS expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his unwavering support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and for fostering a conducive environment for military operations.
He also praised the governor’s dedication to the state’s development and highlighted the importance of their partnership in combating insecurity.
Addressing the people of Katsina, General Musa emphasized the collective responsibility in ensuring security. “Security is everybody’s responsibility,” he stated, urging full cooperation with the military and other security agencies.
He also encouraged the troops to remain patriotic, committed, and professional in carrying out their duties, promising improved welfare and better equipment to enhance their effectiveness in tackling security threats.
Governor Radda, in response, thanked General Musa for his visit and commitment to finding lasting solutions to the security situation in Katsina.
He assured the CDS of the state’s continued support and cooperation with the AFN, noting that efforts are ongoing to educate the populace on the importance of collaborating with security agencies. The governor also requested an increased security presence in the southern part of the state.
In a separate engagement, General Musa visited the Yar’adua family to offer his condolences following the passing of Hajia Dada Musa Yar’adua, the family matriarch and mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
The CDS described her as a woman of virtue, whose contributions to national development will be deeply missed. He prayed for the repose of her soul and encouraged the family to continue her legacy.
The visit underscores the federal government’s commitment to addressing security challenges in Katsina and other parts of the country.
