CDS Advocates Partnership Between DICON and TETFund for Technological Advancement

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has called for a strategic partnership between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

This comes on the heels of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent signing of the DICON Act into law, aimed at fostering technological development in education and enhancing Nigeria’s economy.

General Musa made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Mr. Sonny Echono, to the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The CDS underscored the critical role of education in human capacity development, emphasizing that many individuals would not have achieved their current positions without access to education.

He highlighted education’s pivotal role in ensuring efficient service delivery within the Armed Forces and acknowledged the significant contributions TETFund has made to military institutions.

“The Armed Forces will continue to provide unwavering support to educational development in Nigeria,” General Musa assured, expressing appreciation for TETFund’s numerous interventions in military educational facilities.

In his remarks, Mr. Echono praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for their selfless service to the nation and their continuous support for educational establishments across the country.

He acknowledged the Armed Forces’ efforts in creating a conducive environment for education despite the ongoing security challenges.

Mr. Echono further expressed TETFund’s willingness to collaborate with the military and educational institutions, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, and technological development.

The TETFund Executive Secretary also commended the Armed Forces for their role as innovators in addressing critical national issues.

He lauded the relative peace in the country under General Musa’s leadership and pledged that TETFund would continue to support military institutions in their educational endeavors.

The partnership between DICON and TETFund is expected to drive technological innovation and bolster educational development, contributing to the broader national aspirations for growth and stability.
