CDS Advocates for Stronger Collaboration with Petroleum and Justice Ministries

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reinforced the importance of unity among key stakeholders in Nigeria during his visits to the Ministries of Petroleum and Justice.

As part of his ongoing engagement with critical sectors of the nation, General Musa underscored the significance of closer ties with these ministries for the collective benefit of the country.

During his meeting with Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of Petroleum, General Musa emphasized the imperative of safeguarding national assets against various threats such as oil theft, pipeline vandalism, and illegal refineries.

He stressed that by securing these vital resources, Nigeria’s oil production could surge, thereby bolstering the nation’s economy. Additionally, General Musa pledged unwavering support from the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to collaborate with the Ministry of Petroleum in maximizing the country’s revenue from its natural resources.

In response, Senator Lokpobiri expressed gratitude for the CDS’s visit and assured full cooperation with the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) to combat economic sabotage, which undermines Nigeria’s economic growth.

He committed to providing the necessary assistance to safeguard critical oil facilities, essential for enhancing oil production.

At the Ministry of Justice, General Musa commended the Attorney General and Minister of Justice for their commendable achievements.

He highlighted the importance of upholding the human rights of troops while executing their duties and sought further support from the ministry in this regard.

In turn, the Minister of Justice acknowledged the CDS’s efforts and pledged comprehensive legal assistance to the AFN in fulfilling its constitutional obligations.

The visit underscores the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to collaborate closely with key ministries to address critical challenges facing the nation.

As Nigeria strives for economic progress and security, such partnerships are integral to achieving sustainable development and prosperity for all citizens.
