The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized the importance of partnerships in driving national development.
He made this remark during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Architect Sonny Echono, at TETFund’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed appreciation for TETFund’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s education sector, particularly its focus on infrastructure and research initiatives.
He noted that these efforts have also benefited the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), especially through support for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna.
“TETFund’s sponsorship of research projects, provision of research grants, development of ICT facilities, and staff training programmes have strengthened AFIT’s capacity to deliver world-class education and skills development,” the CAS stated.
He further highlighted the alignment of these initiatives with the NAF’s vision of building capacity for national progress.
The CAS stressed the role of partnerships in addressing modern challenges, stating, “As we navigate the complex challenges of today’s world, partnerships between institutions like TETFund and the Nigerian Air Force remain crucial.
Together, we can build a stronger and more secure Nigeria, where education and defense work hand in hand to shape a prosperous future.”
Air Marshal Abubakar also underscored the NAF’s commitment to education through institutions such as AFIT and the Nigerian Air Force School of Medical Sciences and Aviation Medicine.
He remarked that these institutions enhance the operational efficiency of the NAF while contributing to societal development through high-quality training and research.
In his response, Architect Echono commended the NAF for its dedication to advancing education and reaffirmed TETFund’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote research, innovation, and national development.
He also lauded the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in ensuring peace and security, which are critical for development.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of TETFund and the NAF to leveraging education as a catalyst for a stronger, more secure Nigeria.
