Armed Forces of Nigeria Maintain Strong Position in Ongoing Military Operations

The Nigerian Armed Forces remain steadfast in their counterterrorism and counterinsurgency efforts across the country, according to a press release issued by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations.

The military continues to tackle security challenges while also addressing the impact of natural disasters in some regions.

In the Northeast, troops under Operation Hadin Kai are actively supporting the evacuation of flood-affected residents from the Maiduguri Municipal Council. Over 23 boats have been deployed to assist with the safe evacuation of both inmates from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri and other vulnerable civilians.

The operation, aimed at restoring stability, is ongoing.

Throughout the past week, the military achieved significant success in neutralizing 165 terrorists, arresting 185, and rescuing 106 hostages.

In the South-South region, troops also thwarted oil theft activities valued at approximately N1.3 billion.

Additionally, the military reported the recovery of 145 weapons and nearly 9,000 rounds of ammunition, including 69 AK-47 rifles, 31 locally fabricated guns, 38 dane guns, 2 PKT guns, and over 8,000 rounds of various types of ammunition.

The forces also seized over 1.2 million litres of stolen crude oil, alongside large quantities of illegally refined automotive gas oil (AGO) and dual-purpose kerosene (DPK).

The Nigerian Armed Forces have reiterated their commitment to maintaining the offensive against terrorists and violent extremists. They vow to continue working relentlessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
