In a tragic encounter along the Buratai – Buni Gari road, troops of Operation HADIN KAI fell into a terrorist ambush on April 5th at approximately 09:35 hours.
The ambush resulted in the loss of a brave Lieutenant, who was killed in action, while four other personnel sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
Troops swiftly responded to the ambush by pursuing the terrorists to their hideout within the Timbuktu Triangle. A subsequent engagement led to the neutralization of six terrorists, with the recovery of five AK-47 rifles and 103 rounds of the 7.62mm special ammunition.
Despite the successful operation, some terrorists managed to escape amidst the chaos of the firefight.
Efforts are underway as troops continue to scour the area in pursuit of the remaining terrorists who fled the scene.
